APPLICATION
FEE WAIVER
DO I HAVE TO PAY THE UCLA APPLICATION FEE IN ORDER TO APPLY?
In some cases, the application fee may be waived (not
required). Please note:
q
The
application fee is NOT automatically waived for needy applicants.
q
You
MUST be enrolled in (any) college to apply for a fee waiver.
q
Applicants
may REQUEST a fee waiver from UCLA Graduate Admissions if they
meet ALL of the following criteria:
1.
Currently
enrolled in an undergraduate institution.
2.
Submit
a letter from your undergraduate financial aid officer verifying
financial need OR
3.
Submit
an official copy of your financial aid transcript.
The
letter from your undergraduate financial aid officer should
include the following information:
- Your
income (an income tax statement may be requested as well)
- How
much financial aid you received as an undergraduate. Why it
was not enough to apply to graduate schools.
- The
letter should have an original signature of the financial
aid officer.
If you deem it necessary, you might also include:
A personal letter indicating
why you, as a student, do not have sufficient funds to apply.
REMEMBER:
q
Please
allow extra time for the fee waiver eligibility process (possibly
two weeks).
q
Your
application package cannot be processed without either the fee
or the completed waiver.
q
It
is your responsibility to check with Graduate Admissions
to see if they have determined your fee waiver eligibility.
q
Do
not assume that you have qualified or that Afro-American
Studies will check on your eligibility for you.
q You may still have to pay the application fee in order to have your package processed before the December 15th deadline, if your waiver is turned down.
