be sure to use a credit card. A check will not clear in time--too

(three pages) Emphasize your scholarly achievements and scholarly
goals at UCLA (personalize it for UCLA. Look on the UCLA webpage
for profs’ names.)
2. Letters of recommendation

4. Writing sample (6-12
pages)
5. Resume (Curriculum
Vitae) - (optional)
6. Personal statement
re Diversity Fellowship application (required: two page statement
for each fellowship application- to be sent to Afro-American
Studies Program, in addition to filling out the online
Diversity Fellowship form).
Emphasize your personal life
and economic hardships. Why do you merit a fellowship (money
you do not have to pay back)? (A “fellowship” is
a “scholarship” on the graduate level.)

(if you have changed your name while in college)
8. Any other pertinent
supplemental information regarding your achievements (newspaper
clippings, magazine articles, etc.)
If you apply near the deadline:
Be SURE to send via a private carrier (like Federal Express,
